Part 2: Regina Carroll

Happy February, everyone! Is it just me, or is 2020 already going by extremely fast? For this month’s employee picks, I decided to enlist the help of my fantastic friend and manager of Hobie Laguna Beach, Regina! Reggie has worked at Hobie for just about nine years. She just moved to Old Town Orange with her husband and likes to spend her free time wandering the streets of Orange. She also loves to camp and is leaving for a fun little getaway this week! Here are Regina’s top Valentine’s picks.

For the Beach Lover:

1. Lspace Ribbed One-Piece ($187)

Regina loves this Lspace suit because it is made of the softest fabric and is super good quality! Its also a fantastic, chic basic, that is perfect for the beach and the pool this summer season!

2. 32oz Hydroflask in Fog ($45)

Reggie’s favorite Beach essential is a Hydroflask! They just released a ton of adorable colors, but her favorite is Fog because it’s a little more muted, yet still super fun! They also just introduced dishwasher safe technology, so you can keep it clean, and it’ll last longer!

3. Gunn & Swain Mexican Blanket ($48)

One of our new shop favorites is these gorgeous Mexican Blankets! They are all handmade by local artisans and are super heavy duty and cozy blankets! Regina loves the blanket’s fun color patterns! They are the perfect way to spruce any household and make the most fantastic beach blankets.

For the Travel Fanatic:

1. Dakine Hardshell Luggage ($195)

Regina likes this luggage because it is carry-on size, which makes it easy for day or weekend trips. She also likes it because it is a little bit more fun than an all-black suitcase, but still is muted. It also has four wheels, which makes it easier to roll around the airport.

For the Scent Lover:

1. Broken Top Candle Co. Candle ($24) and Broken Top Candle Co. Perfume ($26)

This is a brand new brand at Hobie, and Regina loves it because of the amazing scent and the adorable packaging! All the candles are soy-based, which makes it safer and more natural. Soy is vegetable wax made from soybeans. The perfumes are all made with three natural ingredients: MCT Oil, Jojaba Oil, and the scent. This is one of the most natural brands and has the most amazing smells!

2. Salty Cali Necklace ($36)

These necklaces are all made locally and are the most perfect, dainty, minimalistic jewelry and are perfect for everyday wear. The gold is, also, super good quality and doesn’t look too yellowish-gold. There are a ton of different styles and they are the best for everyday layers.

For the Sneaker Head:

1. Old Skool Vans in Green Suede ($65)

This are a brand new Old Skool Style, and Regina likes them because of the updated tongue and the new Vans logo placement. They are made of the most gorgeous and softest suede. Lastly, they are have the Vans Ultra-Cush Suede which makes them perfect for long days on your feet!

Hobie Shop :: Bikini Week Day One!! We Know Our Bikinis!!

Hobie Surf Shop’s Bikini Week is Here!!!!!!!!

We are, at Hobie Surf Shop, a beach people. Our whole shop inventory is based around having a great time either in the surf at the beach, or in the sand at the beach. It’s the lifestyle we dedicate almost every hour of the day to, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!! (Actually, if the State of California would let us sleep in the sand, we might truly be able to dedicate every hour of the day to living and breathing all things beach all day every day…. hhmmmmm, wouldn’t that be lovely??) And, there is, that one magic item that bonds all us “beach girls” together…. The Bikini! That magic stretchy piece of goodness that signals the start of summer! The return of toasty warm beachy good days, long nights, bright flaming orange sunsets, the end of the wetsuit for a few months, and long afternoons spent (safely, in your sunscreen girl!!) bronzing with a Mai Tai in our hands…. Glorious!

 

So…. to celebrate the return of summer and the Bikini, we have a bikini week here at Hobie Surf Shop-the Blog!!! All week this week we will have special blog posts to get you ready to dive into some new swim style. We have even partnered with our girls at Maaji Swimwear to give away three bikinis to our Instagram followers (check the details on how to enter in this post by clicking :: HERE), this week, the giveaways start today, so don’t miss out!! To start of Bikini Week right, here is a look at our Education Night in Laguna Beach…

Every year before we kick off bikini season at Hobie Surf Shop, we all get together for a “Bikini Clinic”!! We each pick our favorite bikini combination, it gives us all new ideas on how to pair up a killer look in ways we might not have thought of. We also get taken through all the different fits and styles, and get educated on what will look best on every figure. We learn about dressing room etiquette, and ways to make sure every person who comes through our door feels comfortable trying on swim and NEVER has to go back on the floor once they are in the trying on process. Hobie Shop:: DVF LoVES Roxy at Hobie Surf Shop 3/7!!!

There are things I get excited about.. pretty sunsets, Ryan Gossling “Hey Girl” memes, anything related to NASA, sweater weather… you know, stuff everyone likes. Then there are things that happen in the world that are such a cocktail of amazeballs that. I. Just. Lose. My. Mind!!!! This is one of those moments… take a deep breath ladies..  I still am not quite recovered from being told that, none other than Fashion Designer Goddess, Style Icon, and International Phenomenon… Diane Von Furstenberg (known as DVF to her homies) would be collaborating with Roxy (my go to bikini for surfing since forever) on a Limited Edition collection of bikinis, cover-ups, beach bags, rash guards and boardshorts. This is when you will need another deep breath… It is all priced from $38 to $88.  I know, Right!? Are you dying? Me Too!!!!

Ok, here are the details. All the styles were being kept super hush hush, and Roxy was only letting out a tiny look here and there leading up to the offical drop date of March 7th. They wanted to keep us all on the edge of our seats wondering what incredible prints and cuts DVF was going to come up with. But… after scouring the internets, watching the promo video (see below), looking at every Instagram photo, all the pins on Pinterest, they have finally showed us all the pieces in the line… and they are gorgeous!

TWO DAYS!!!!!!

The fabrics used are beyond buttery smooth. Each suit is lined with super cute DVF LoVES Roxy embossed fabric. The cuts will offer a little something for every girl and every body type. But, it’s the patterns, those iconic DVF patterns, that are the best part!! They are so so so on point, and so beach ready cute!
