Hobie Shop:: Monday Morning Obsession: Our Staff are Our Models!!

Good morning and happy glorious Monday!!! Hope everyone is full of Holiday spirit!! We are, and our team especially is.. the shops are decorated and looking beautiful, and our team is looking gorgeous too!! Even the ugliest of ugly Christmas sweaters can not take the gleam out of our team. Anyone who shops at our Hobie Surf Shops knows, we have the best looking, and nicest humans working for us!! But, did you also know all of our models in our Instagram photos (Follow us: HERE! or by searching the username hobiesurfshop on your instagram account) are also our staff?

We truly believe that the best way to showcase the products we stock is to ask the staff to pick out their favorite “stuff” put it on/use it, and let us take a picture of it to share with you!! They ALWAYS have great ideas on how to put together the right look, and even better ideas on poses, locations, and vibe!! In other words, with out them, our social media Hobie Surf Shop world would be a serious snooze. ZzzzzZZZZzzzzzz. So we thank the team for being just that, a Team!!

Hobie Shop: LoVE LoVE LoVE All Things Fall!!

Come the autumn, I awaken
to the raining celebration of the trees before the winter,
giving up the weight of beauty and the glory of attention.

 It isn’t that summer doesn’t hold the key to the depths of our heart, because it does…. but Autumn… oh, lovely crisp fall. Oh, how we love the sky that is on fire, with pink and red splendor. The swells that pound with freshly chilled water. Thick morning mist surf checks with our beanies pulled tight, steaming thick coffee in hand. The first snows falling up North, the first call of the kids looking for their jackets late for school.. oh fall, you are awash in a sea of splendor!!

Our team at Hobie Surf Shop is equally in love with fall, so we enlisted members from each of the shops (and Jay Wild, a Hobie team rider who inspired this whole post with his photo) to show us their favorite fall look available now. The results were ADORABLE!! We took pics of the two together, then in the slide show at the bottom, you can click on their individual pictures to see what they were wearing… so darling!!! <3

Hobie Shop: Wednesday Night Must Haves with Kathleen and Kris

Kathleen and Kris… adorable!!!

Every Wednesday night we highlight a Hobie Surf Shop team member and show you their must haves of the moment! Tonight, Kathleen and Kris from Hobie Dana Point are showing our basics some love! No big logos, no stripes, no glitter.. just solid, wearable with everything, wardrobe staples. Kathleen is wearing Quiksilver “Lorne” skinny jeans, a Jolie long sleeve top, and Vans “Authentic Low Pro’s” in a floral print. Kris is wearing a Hurley “Staple T”, RVCA “Stay RVCA” jeans, and classic Chuck Taylors. Stop in and say “Hi” and stock up on basics!!

Hobie Shop: Coachella by Hobie

Oh Coachella, you dusty festival of music in the desert; every year you call all the wild boys and girls to your tented amazingness. Seriously, you have dodgeball, morning yoga, art studios, an organic farmer’s market, a silent dance party, AND Pink’s hot dogs… and this is just at the campsite, you haven’t even gotten into the Festival itself yet. *Sigh* So jealous we aren’t there…

Hobie Shop: Five Easy Paris Pieces

My husband, Chad, our son, Blue and I are heading off to Paris in a few weeks for a bit to visit some museums, eat some great food and get dirty in the catacombs. Chad has laid down the law on my packing, insisting I get one bag, of normal human size (dang… cancel the shipping container sized roller) with which to survive 7 days of outfit changes…. WHAT?? Not possible, it’s Paris, and a girl has got to be looking cute at all times. So, realizing I have unlimited access to Hobie Surf Shops buyers, Adrienne Collins and Marissa Barry, I thought I would tap them both to pick out the 5 must have pieces that I can wear multiple ways while on the trip and back at home.

First up is Marissa Barry, who helped me break out of my “fresh from a workout look”, that consisted of Yoga pants, running shoes, and tanktop/sweatshirt combos, and into a more fancy collection of fun but comfortable clothes. Thanks to her, I now look sporty and fashionable at the same time.

This sweater is perfect for traveling because it can be worn two different ways. Wear it long or flip it upside down and it becomes a short look with a big collar. You can wear it over a dress or with jeans, a tee, and boots. Even better, you can use it as a blanket on the flight too!

Hobie Shop: New Look for Laguna Beach Hobie

There comes a moment in everyones life when they start to think it might be time for a little “nip/tuck”. Maybe a pull here, a suck there… in the case of our Laguna Beach shop, it was time for the Joan Riversesque top to bottom overhaul.

Walking in for the first time since the redesign, you will be stunned at how much bigger the shop looks. Walls came down and dressing rooms were moved to give the space an airy feel. “Changing the dressing rooms was a big request from our clients, they wanted more privacy, bigger mirrors and better lighting.” shared Dawn, one of the managers at Laguna along with Whitney “So, we made that a priority!” The dressing rooms relocated off the main floor into their own room, with lights bright enough to see the clothes and private enough so you don’t feel like you are changing in front of a room full of people!

Moving the dressing rooms opened the space to make it look positively cavernous inside.
